The revival of La Coupole in Nîmes is underway

THE FIRST PHASE OF RENOVATION WORKS: A WARMER COUPOLE SQUARE

A completely redesigned square to be more welcoming and pleasant is presented today to the press and the public present. La Coupole in Nîmes had begun its transformation with the greening of all common areas in a “nature in the city” spirit. La Coupole in Nîmes is thus more in line with the very DNA of the SOCRI LIMITED group, which creates welcoming living spaces where nature is omnipresent.
First phase of La Coupole renovation works: the complete restructuring of the emblematic central space for a budget of approximately one million euros. This first stage, designed with architect Julien PASSERIEUX and his teams from the AURA firm, includes the installation of two monumental glass staircases, a planted pond and a complete replacement of the floors to make this square more elegant and friendly.
Nicolas CHAMBON, President of the SOCRI REIM group adds: “Our wish is to offer, with these unique staircases, a true piece of technical craftsmanship to all the people of Nîmes. These glass staircases mounted on a very light curved structure are normally reserved for iconic and luxurious places. Nevertheless, our visitors deserve this feat of engineering and architecture to rediscover an exceptional place like La Coupole!”

ASSESSMENT OF THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF OPERATION OF LA COUPOLE IN NÎMES

The takeover figures
On June 15, 2021, SOCRI LIMITED celebrated the takeover of La Coupole in Nîmes with a cocktail on the roof of the Coupole parking lot. During this event, its president, Nicolas CHAMBON, announced his desire to restore all the shopping center’s splendor and commercial attractiveness. Two years later, the initial assessment is extremely positive.
Indeed, La Coupole in Nîmes consolidated a 2022 turnover 18% higher than that of 2019, demonstrating the effectiveness of SOCRI LIMITED management based on significant strengthening of field teams, impeccable site maintenance (cleanliness and security) and strong marketing dynamics.
At the same time, the shopping center recorded a footfall in 2022 up 1.6% compared to 2019.
These results are all the more satisfying as, over the same period, French shopping centers recorded an average decrease in their footfall of 11%.
SOCRI LIMITED commercial teams have also worked to reduce the commercial vacancy at La Coupole: five stores have opened their doors since June 2021.

Finally, links with shopping center visitors have been strengthened with the creation of a loyalty card and a gift card valid throughout La Coupole in Nîmes in June 2022 as well as the opening of an Instagram account which brings together nearly 16,000 followers! The brand new website for the center will be launched next month.

Committed energy management

As part of the SOCRI LIMITED group’s environmental policy, La Coupole in Nîmes has implemented careful monitoring of energy consumption. This action has helped to significantly reduce, by 28%, the shopping center’s energy consumption without compromising visitor comfort since the beginning of the year compared to 2022.
Even as the tertiary decree requires a 40% reduction in energy consumption by 2030 compared to the reference year (2011), La Coupole in Nîmes has already reduced its consumption by 55% compared to 2011.
In addition, new works are planned to further reduce consumption: replacement of the air conditioning system with a low-consumption system, installation of a protective film on La Coupole’s windows, installation of openings for natural ventilation…
Beyond legal requirements, it is with conviction and concrete and effective actions that the SOCRI LIMITED group works every day for responsible management of its sites.

THE NEXT STEPS

The transformation of La Coupole will continue in the years to come. The SOCRI LIMITED group continues to work with the city of Nîmes to finalize a project in La Coupole and around the space above Les Halles, the entrances and the surroundings of the center. This joint renovation with that decided by the city of Nîmes will be presented later once the overall project is completed.
SOCRI LIMITED’s total investment for the renovation of La Coupole in Nîmes will thus amount to more than 9 million euros.
The objective is for La Coupole to once again become the emblematic and benchmark shopping destination in the heart of Nîmes’s historic center, better valued, better connected and then fully playing its role as a commercial locomotive.
