La Coupole in Nîmes to soon welcome Galeries Lafayette
Galeries Lafayette are coming to La Coupole in Nîmes: A new era of shopping in the city center
A historic turning point is approaching for La Coupole and the city center of Nîmes: SOCRI LIMITED confirmed during the press conference on June 11 the opening of a Galeries Lafayette department store in autumn 2025 and is now beginning a new phase of works to welcome them.
In June 2021, during an event marking the takeover of La Coupole, Nicolas CHAMBON, Chairman of the group, had expressed his ambition to restore the shopping center to its former glory.
Three years later, after a successful first phase of transformation in May 2023, marked by a significant renovation of the central square under the famous dome, with a budget of €1 million, SOCRI LIMITED is already showing encouraging results. This is reflected in particular by a significant increase of +17.8% in turnover and +6% in footfall in 2023 compared to 2019.
SOCRI LIMITED, which already owns the Galeries Lafayette stores in Béziers and Avignon, managed by its partner Planet Indigo, is now adding the Nîmes store to its portfolio and enthusiastically announces the start of the second phase of works, planned to radically transform La Coupole in Nîmes. This ambitious project, with a budget of €9 million, will include the complete renovation of the main entrance on Avenue Général Perrier, the installation of modern escalators and the restructuring of the commercial level above Les Halles to accommodate the department store.
At the same time, the city of Nîmes is undertaking renovation works in the surrounding area, thus establishing a collaboration with the SOCRI LIMITED group.
Galeries Lafayette, a renowned brand and symbol of luxury, elegance and the French art of living, promises an exceptional shopping experience in the heart of Nîmes, strengthening its economic and cultural dynamism.
